Charles and Sarah Barnes had eight children. They are mostly recorded as having been in the Aston district, which often meant Duddeston.
- 34.1.1 - Elizabeth Barnes (1843)
- Married Henry Chattaway (1844-1915) at Bishop Ryder Church, Aston in 1865. This church and the entire street were demolished in 1960 to make way for Aston University.
- Henry was a gold engineer; they lived in Adelaide St, Duddeston, close to her parents
- By 1881, he was a gold and silver engineer, and they lived next door to her parents in Cathcart St, Duddeston.
- 1891: he was a silver engraver; Devon St, Duddeston
- 1901: widowed, with two adult children still at home

- Bordesley is in Nechells, and is the real life setting for the TV series Peaky Blinders (the gang of that name were active from the 1890s into the C20. My grandad used to have fights with them, or so I'm told).
- George was a carter, and they lived in the same street where she had previously been in service
- By 1891, he was a bricklayer's labourer; she was a laundress. It looks like they were in back-to-back terrace in Inkerman St, Vauxhall. In 1901/1911, they were still there but he had a job as a railway labourer.
