- 47.1.1 - Robert William Beale (1826-1912)
- Entered military service in 1843 as an apothecary in the East India Co. European Army, which may indicate the Beales at this time were not Anglo-India

- Ambala was only established three years earlier after the British were forced to leave its Karnal Cantonment following the malaria epidemic of 1841–42. There was no effective control for malaria at the time.
- Children:
- Cecil William Beale (1865, Ambala)
- Alice Mary Beale (1867, Ambala)
- John Percival Beale (1870, Calcutta)
- Eleanor May Beale (1872, Chunar)
- Emily Maude Beale (1874, Agra)
- Agra is a city on the bank of the Yamuna river. My photos are here.
- Twenty years earlier, it had been the site of significant action in the Indian Rebellion, when the British temporarily withdrew to the Red Fort. My photos are here.
