33.2 Siblings of Rebecca James (née Weaver)

Benjamin and Hannah Weaver had eleven children. Remember the caution around the tortuous relationship via Rebecca but that we do have a DNA link to Benjamin.

    • Agricultural labourer, Sutton Coldfield
    • Married Maria Thompson in Aston Juxta, nearby, in 1846
    • Children:

  • 33.2.2 - Benjamin Weaver (1815-1863)
    • Agricultural labourer, Aston at marriage. 
    • Coal miner in West Brom, then Tamworth in 1851, 1861.
    • Married Christiana Showell (1818-1896) in the same church in 1837
    • Children:
      • Thomas Weaver (1838). Thomas died in 1838.

    • In 1841, William was a cordwainer; the couple lived in Kingsbury, Warks with his parents who were shopkeepers
    • In 1851, he was a labourer at a timber yard in Sutton
    • In 1861, Mary is a widow and a laundress in Sutton, with the youngest son still at home

    • Married Mary Mason (1812-1870) in Walsall (probably Aldridge) in 1845. She was a laundress during their married years

  • 33.2.8 - Emmanuel Weaver (1831-1876)
    • In 1851, was a waggoner (servant) at the same farmer's house that Rebecca served 
    • He joined the army (but no record found) and was posted to Québec, Canada. 
    • Married Mary Ann McCarthy (1840-1892) in Québec Garrison, Canada in 1857. This was ten years before Canada became responsible for its own defence (against the USA and everyone else). It's now part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

      • Rebecca Weaver (1868) b. Dublin, Ireland
      • Sara Weaver (1871) b. Chatham, Kent
    • My photos of Chatham (Historic Dockyard) are here. Sadly, I don't have any photos of Dublin but I am keen to return.
    • Other researchers have him arriving in San Francisco in 1862, and/or getting caught up in the American Civil War (as did 50,000 Brits). There must be a story there!
    • Died in Dagshai, Himachal Pradesh, India
  • 33.2.9 - Joseph Weaver (1836-1908)
    • Married Martha Shorthouse (1837) in Birmingham in 1879 (at age 43)
    • No known children
  • 33.2.10 - Rebekah Weaver (1840)
    • Clearly recorded with her parents in the 1841 census at age 1
    • No further record found
