- George was a surgeon, who practised in Long St, Atherstone, where his children were born. Atherstone is a small market town: my photos are here.

- Recorded in Rusholme in 1861, before it was incorporated into Manchester. A hundred years later Morrisey wrote Rusholme Ruffians about going to a fair and being stabbed. According to Wikipedia, shooting incidents have declined in recent years.
- Eliza was a school mistress and music teacher. I don't know what she would have made of The Smiths.
