James and Margaret Waddilove had ten children in London. There is a possibility that two families are conflated here, but the records do not seem to support this. Their children were Edward Brittain's siblings and first cousins.

- James was a professed cook (i.e. learned fine cooking through apprenticeship), and they lived at Salamanca Terrace [Upper Old Church Street?], Chelsea in 1861; 80 Church Street in 1871; and 24 Eustace Road, Fulham in 1881: "Chef de Cuisine (cook)"!
